Ireland Wellness Themed Tour Itinerary

Day 1 From Dublin to tranquil West Cork

Departing Dublin at 8.30am, we’ll head for what was once the historical and cultural centre of a huge area of Ireland – the Rock of Cashel (included in tour price).
After your self-guided tour of this collection of the most important medieval buildings in Ireland, we’ll take lunch along the route.
We plan to arrive at the tranquil Gougane Barra around 4pm. This will give us time to settle in, explore the forest park and restored monastic cells before evening dinner (included in tour price). Accommodation TBC and subject to change

Day 2 Sunrise Hike and Meditation Retreat

For those who want, we take a short hike to watch the sun rise over the Lee Valley, before returning for a nourishing breakfast. We leave Gougane at 9am for Dzogchen Beara Meditation Centre, where you’ll partake in a meditation mini-retreat and lunch (included in tour price).
After lunch it’s discovery time. We’ll loop west to the end of the Beara Peninsula. Visit the gravesite and hear the story of the Children of Lir – a haunting tale from Irish mythology. Glorious vistas unfold as we wind our way over the Caha Mountains back to Gougane Barra for a restful overnight.

Day 3 Forest Bathing, Shoreline Foraging and a small-town visit

After breakfast we’ll indulge in some self-guided forest bathing and then it’s time to leave the beautiful Gougane Barra behind. We’ll head for the cute town of Kenmare. Its Irish language name is Néidín, which translates as ‘the Little Nest’. We’ll leave you to your own devices and give you some free time here for an hour or two to discover the town (it’s only a couple of streets, so you won’t get lost!).
We’re then going to move on to the Iveragh Peninsula (aka the Ring of Kerry).
Spectacular views await on our way to Derrynane – exotic gardens (don’t disturb the fairies), soft golden sands and crystal clear Atlantic Waters await. And, maybe a first for many – we’ll explore the shore in a unique way. John and Kerry of Atlantic Irish Seaweed bringing you an extraordinary local experience (included in tour price).

Following on from our seaweed adventure, this evening, we stay in one of the World’s certified top 10 Dark Sky Reserves. If we get cloudless skies, an abundance of stars await.
Overnight tonight will be at the Royal Hotel on rugged Valentia Island. Accommodation TBC and subject to change

Day 4 Sea and Sauna and Ancient Celtic life

Sea and Sauna are today’s wellness highlights. A stroll (after breakfast this time) to embrace the sea air will kick-start our day. We’ll gaze out to sea, where over a thousand years ago, Irish monks lived in solitude on Skellig Michael, a rocky outcrop some 12km out in the ocean.
A visit to an ancient Celtic Ring Fort before today’s featured highlight – to a backdrop of mountains on one side and ocean on the other, revive yourself with a cycle of sauna/sea/sauna at Samradh’s Sauna (included in tour price).
Suitably relaxed and refreshed, sit back and relax in reclined luxury for the next stage of our journey, to the wonderful town of Dingle, where we spend the next two nights. A hub of atmospheric Irish pubs, traditional music and dance and great restaurants, you’ll see why we spend two nights here. Accommodation TBC and subject to change

Day 5 Down-time and one of the World’s most scenic drives

Today is all yours. You can relax, take a stroll around the town and explore its galleries and craft shops. We can arrange horse-riding along a beach, and sea kayaking or traditional Irish boat rowing in Dingle harbour. There’s also the option of a sight-seeing sealife boat tour.

We take a drive along Slea Head – described as one of the most scenic drives in the world, . It’s not just the scenery that’ll take your breath away either. There’s mythology, movie making and archaeology. We explore ancient beehive huts and visit local artisans to see their work and learn how they are contributing to sustainability in their communities.

Day 6 Dingle to County Clare and Restorative Yoga

It’s Friday and, like all Fridays – it’s time to restore and replenish. Our first stop takes us into farm life in rural Ireland. We’ll be welcomed into the home of Bridget and Seamus. Witness the wonderful bond between canine and human as we experience a sheep herding demonstration. You’ll also gain insight into what is was like, growing up in rural Ireland (included in tour price).

A car ferry across the mouth of the River Shannon, to Shannon Estuary Way Retreat. It’s recharge time – with an afternoon of restorative yoga with sound. Afterwards you’ll enjoy a fresh vegetarian meal of local, seasonal produce, before overnighting beside the Atlantic Ocean (included in tour price).

Accommodation tonight in the Lahinch Coast Hotel Accommodation TBC and subject to change

Day 7 Cliffs of Moher and Galway City

While it may be the final day of our Wellness Week, we’re not done yet. If you wish, take an early morning stroll along the beach or prom to clear the cobwebs for the day.

Having spent the night just 15 minutes from the famous Cliffs of Moher, it means we can get there ahead of the crowds (included in tour price). From this iconic footprint of Irish scenery, we drive through the unique landscape of the Burren to spend some time in Galway City. Galway is a historic, vibrant, diverse, University city.  Narrow, pedestrianised streets at its heart, create a warm lively atmosphere with some great street entertainment (and some that smack of ‘student hustling for beer money’!).

Sadly, we’re approacing the end our Wellness Week in Ireland. But, we hope you’ll have created new memories and friendships and, on arriving back to Dublin at the end of today, you really do feel refreshed, recharged, re-enaged and reinvigorated.

And we’ll say ‘slán go fóill a cáirde nua’ (bye for now, our new friends).
